Parakeet Welcomes New Baby Birds to the House in Sweet Video

Talk about rolling out the welcome wagon! Footage of a Parakeet greeting new birds into his house has people on the internet absolutely smitten. We think they're really going to like it there.

The bird, Hunter, even gave the baby birds some sweet pecks on the head as he welcomed them home.

Shared by Hunter's mama, Kimberley Kennedy, the footage shows Hunter perched on the babies enclosure. He was definitely excited to see them.

"Mwahhhh," he said, giving one of the smaller birds a "kiss."

"Kisses?" he asked all the birds before planting a kiss on their heads. "Good boys!" he praised. Unfortunately, the baby birds looked just a little freaked out by all the attention. We guess Hunter didn't know how to read a room.

"Hunter welcoming the new babies to their temporary home," his mama wrote in the video's caption.

People in the comments section were cracking up. "THEY LOOK SO FREAKED OUT HAHAHA ," joked one person. "The fact that he’s actually kissing them so gently," someone else added. "No please this is the most precious thing I’ve ever seen," a third commenter gushed.

A second video on the woman's page shows Hunter attempting to "help" his mama feed the babies.

And by help we mean he definitely was trying to steal the food being dispensed from a syringe before they could get there. Eventually the woman had to pick one of the babies up on her finger so that she could feed it better.

"Hunter 'helping' me feed the babies more like getting in the way haha," she joked in the caption.

Parakeets and Talking

Hunter is a chatty guy, but is that normal for most Parakeets? Yes. Parakeets are very vocal birds and can often be found tweeting, singing, talking or mimicking the things that they hear.

In fact, that's the main way that Parakeets learn how to talk — by listening to their owners. Some Parakeets have been known to learn hundreds of words from their humans.

Parakeets don't necessarily speak as clearly as larger birds, like Macaws. But if you really want your Parakeet to talk there are ways to train them. Think about how you teach babies to talk — it's all about repetition. The more you say certain words, the more your Parakeet will pick up. If you keep at it eventually your Parakeet start chiming in on conversations. Just like Hunter, who is probably going to keep talking to his "houseguests" for the rest of their stay.
