Paradise with a French accent: Evening in Cote D'Azur benefits children and families

Call it a paradise within a paradise.

The Opportunity Early Childhood Education and Family Center created a little French Riviera paradise for its "Evening in Côte d’Azur" dinner dance, which took place Feb. 3 at a private waterfront home in Palm Beach, which itself is a paradise.

Julie Ford, Kelly Pohrer and Devon Roush were chairwomen for the evening, which marked the 85th anniversary of the organization, Palm Beach's second-oldest homegrown charity.

"An Evening in Cote D'Azur" included a sunset cocktail reception, live and silent auctions, a Call to the Heart, and food, entertainment and décor inspired by the glamorous beach clubs and nightlife of the French Riviera.

Really, it was enough glam to appease even the French.

(Ce sont des snobs, if you know what we mean. )

Committee members included Nikki Cooney, Leslie Dashiell, Julie Ford, Ashly Heyniger, Natalie Lazarek, Jennifer Lazzara, Sara Maggio, Brooke McKernan, Kristina McPherson, Marley Overman, Jessica Paindiris, Hallie Rosenthal, Jill Schecter, Rebecca Soylemez, Erin Sykes, and Allison Wren.

Proceeds from the night ― more than $285,000 ― assist Opportunity in its mission to empower the children of working families to achieve academic and life success through educational programs that embrace the whole child and through family programming.
