Pantone's New App Lets You Play With Color Palettes for Free

From House Beautiful

Attention design lovers: Pantone has released a new app that helps you easily make color palettes–whether you’re hanging out in your room or on-the-go–and it’s about to seriously raise your phone screen time.

The Pantone Connect app gives users free access to all of its colors to create palettes for any space or project. When making a palette, users have the ability to streamline the design process by matching physical materials to Pantone colors. So, says you’re looking for a paint color to match your purse or you want to base a color palette on an inspiring item, you can use the app’s photo extraction tool or pair the app with Pantone's Color Match Card. The portable card is similar to the size of a credit card and uses your phone’s camera to get a more accurate color match than extracting information from a photo. The card is available on Pantone’s website for $14.99.

Apart from the mobile portion, the app is part of a larger Pantone Connect digital color platform that works on the web and Adobe Creative Cloud extension, “meaning colors found while on the go can be easily applied to design files when you're back in your studio,” according to the app’s description.

The app is available for iOS and Android users. It’s free to use, but there’s a premium option with additional tools, like team palette collaboration and other design-savvy features, should you want more—and you very well might!
