Near the tail end of every year Pantone releases its pick for "The Color of the Year," meant to predict both what shade will be inescapable, but also to encapsulate the general mood or theme of the coming year. 2023 was all about Viva Magenta, 2022 was the light purple Very Peri hue, and 2021 had two: Ultimate Gray and Illuminating Yellow. Today, December 7, Pantone released the 2024 color of the year, and it is surprisingly one of the most wearable picks yet.

After scouring fashion week runways, interior design trends, red carpet events, and even analyzing the human brain, the team at Pantone's Color Institute came to the conclusion that Peach Fuzz will come to define the new year.

Leatrice Eisman, Pantone's Executive Director of the institute, said in the official announcement, "We chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless."

She also told CNN that because "We're going through a lot of turmoil in our lives," Pantone felt "we have a need for a color that's nurturing." Luckily for us, the "warm and cozy shade" is super easy to implement into your daily wardrobe, beauty routine, and even home decor for whenever you need some instant comfort.

Of course, there's no limit to where you can use a peach tint in your glam. Nails, eyeshadow, highlighter—you name it, and peach can seamlessly fit into any look. Not to mention that it is also the perfect sweet scent for fragrance.

"We think of peach as being a significantly nostalgic color," Eisman told CNN—we immediately thought of Maybelline's Baby Lips that peaked in the 2010s. She continued, "More frequently a woman's color. And yet, it has been adapted and gathered into men's wardrobes and surroundings. I think that speaks to the modernity of the shade."

Beyoncé, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Zoë Kravitz, and Rihanna were all amongst the celebrities Eisman's team noticed helped set the trend for Peach Fuzz—wearing it to numerous high-profile red carpets and events, inspiring dozens to do the same.

However, you don't need a red carpet event to have to wear the color. It is quite possibly the easiest shade to swap for any tan, neutral, or white in your closet—accessories, statement pieces, and shoes alike.
