Pantone has once again tapped into our collective values through color. The company has named Peach Fuzz (Pantone 13-1023) as its Color of the Year for 2024. The soft, heartfelt hue expresses the desire to nurture kindness, compassion, and connection—all while fostering a deep coziness as we seek a peaceful future.
A light, delicate shade that sits between pink and orange, Peach Fuzz marks Pantone’s 25th anniversary of its Color of the Year program. The color showcases our "want to be close to those we love and the joy we get when allowing ourselves to tune into who we are and savor that moment of quiet time," Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, tells House Beautiful.
The color is an evolution of the company's Color of the Year for 2023, Viva Magenta. Pantone believes that, over the past few years, we’ve come to know our priorities better and appreciate the time dedicated to enjoying the people and places we love. Peach Fuzz reflects that with its warm and inviting color, but the name also reflects the importance of touch. "We selected [the name] very thoughtfully because it's the tactile aspect of the color that's so very important as well as the vision of the color," explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
In the form of a knitted blanket or a faux fur rug, Peach Fuzz welcomes a sense of security and ease. The color also reflects our craving for the past, delight in the now, and hope for life ahead. "Something else we've been seeing this whole year is this idea of future nostalgia, reaching back to times when things were simpler," Pressman adds. "But at the same time, it's been refashioned to display a more contemporary ambiance—one whose gentle lightness and airy presence lifts us into the future."
If you're eager to incorporate Peach Fuzz into your home, it can be used in many more ways than you might think. When it comes to design styles, the color has a retro quality fit for traditional-style interiors, but it simultaneously boasts a contemporary energy—making it perfect for those who love to mix old and new pieces in their home.
When bringing Peach Fuzz into your space, allow yourself to get creative. Along with a dreamy wall paint hue, the color can be used as a pop of color in artwork—like on this painted mirror display featured on interior designer Kelly Wearstler's Instagram. Peach Fuzz can also act as a subtle complementary color in detailed fabrics that take shape as throw pillows or bedding. Pantone collaborated with brands, including Ruggable and Spoonflower, to bring the color to life through patterned wallpaper and graphic rugs. And since most interiors are completely monochromatic, Pantone put together a range of color palettes centered on Peach Fuzz that serve as inspiration when tackling your next home makeover.
