Panic! at the Disco Performed “Don’t Let the Light Go Out” at the VMAs and It Was a Sight to Behold

Your fave alternative boy band just hit the stage at the 2022 VMAs and it was everything our angsty teen hearts lingering within needed (and let’s be honest, our angsty adult hearts too). The group hasn’t performed at the awards show since 2018 when they showcased their hit “High Hopes,” and the four-year wait was so worth it.

Tonight, the band performed “Don’t Let the Light Go Out,” a track from their latest album Viva Las Vengeance that came out earlier this month. Our screens faded to black and white while Brendon Urie crooned the lyrics over dynamic, poppy instrumentals. Here’s a bit of the performance, because we know you’re curious:

There was a slight rumor on Twitter that Taylor Swift might join them for their performance, but alas, she did not. (Maybe next time!)

This year, Panic! was nominated for Best Alternative Video for their song “Viva Las Vengeance,” but alas, they lost to Måneskin’s “I Wanna Be Your Slave.” The nomination itself was still a big deal for the group since this was the first time ever that Panic! was nominated in the category. Way back in the early aughts of 2006, the band took home one of the most coveted awards, Video of the Year, for their all-time classic “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” and get this: That was the very first music video they made—just a slight flex! They may not have had the same good fortune tonight, but their performance was a win in our books!
