There's a lot to love about Swedish home retailer IKEA. It's affordable, stylish, and one of the few home stores to carry food that's almost as good as the furniture (I'm looking at you, Swedish meatballs). But perhaps one of the most valuable aspects of IKEA is the customization possibility. With hundreds of DIY options online, there's no shortage of ways to make your pieces your own. But if DIY isn't your thing—or you prefer the look of custom furniture—you'll want to check out the women-owned home brand, Norse Interiors, which specializes in products specifically made to customize your IKEA pieces.

Norse creates a selection of panels, hinges, and doors that are meant to transform IKEA's Besta, Malm, and, newly, Sektion series. Each panel, which you can easily order online, is placed on top of the IKEA base to create what the brand calls a "second skin," which ultimately customizes your plain IKEA piece. Unlike IKEA, which only offers one colorway in all three series, Norse has panels in a variety of hues and design styles. Choose from various textured panels before selecting from a handful of bold and neutral colors (there's even a DIY color option if you want to personalize your piece even more). In addition, the brand recently introduced a wood collection, with timeless white oak at its forefront (walnut will also be offered sometime in the future).

You can further customize each item by adding legs and hardware, both of which you can also purchase from Norse. Legs and hardware are available in black, brass, and chrome, though there are several styles of hardware customers can choose from.

"I launched Norse Interiors because I wanted custom furniture to be more accessible," founder Lotta Lundaas tells House Beautiful. "By using affordable and durable IKEA frames as a base, everyone can have custom, personalized furniture with a high-end look." In addition to accessibility, Lundaas also points to sustainability as a leading tenet for the brand. "Sustainability is key for us," she says. "We empower customers to design their own one-of-a-kind piece that reflects their personal style and extend the lifespan of that piece of furniture."

If you're interested in checking out Norse Interiors for yourself, note that you will need to purchase either the Besta, Malm, or the Sektion series separately from IKEA. After selecting and ordering your design from Norse, all you'll need is a screwdriver to make the piece come to life.
