The quiet life looks good on Pamela Anderson. The actress-turned-author recently posted a video on Instagram wearing a floral dress, scooping hearty soup from a Staub cast iron pot.

We found what looks like the same pot at Amazon for $300 — but it’s almost out of stock. The reviews are almost universally perfect for this versatile kitchen staple. A reliable cast iron pot is a must for any cook, as it can be used on the stovetop or in the oven to make everything from roasts to soups to bread.

Given the low stock and high price of Anderson's Staub pot, we found a few solid alternatives you can add to your cabinet for under $100.

Leave it to Martha Stewart to give us a faithful recreation of French cookware at a much lower price. This Dutch oven looks like the same size as the Staub version shown in Anderson's video and also has good Amazon ratings.

One reviewer compared it favorably to cast iron pots they’ve had from Staub and Le Creuset. "This one is just as good [at] about one-fifth the price," they wrote. It's marked down by 15 percent right now, so you can get it for just $68.

Amazon Basics cookware sets have wowed us in the past, and you can get an entire set of pre-seasoned cast iron cookware, including a lidded 5-quart Dutch oven, for about a quarter of what you'd spend on the Staub pot by itself. In addition, this set has a 10.5-inch griddle pan, 10.25-inch skillet, and 8-inch skillet. That's roughly $16 per pan with the current markdown, which is a great deal on a highly rated set of cookware that could last for decades.

The ratings for this cast iron pot are just as good as those of the Staub version, with one of thousands calling it a "great investment" and praising its attractive enamel coating.

When you're a best-selling author, like Pamela Anderson, springing for a $300 Dutch oven is to be expected. But there are a lot of other high-quality cast iron pots that are just as versatile at a much lower cost. Take a look at the rest of these options we found at Amazon.
