Palisades Tahoe's "Nicest Guy In The Valley" Throws Huge Double Backflip

Connery Lundin, the Lake Tahoe native known for his excellent big mountain and freeride skiing, just stomped a double backflip this early in the season (to the surprise of no one).

Connery did a line down Cool Guy Rock to Kangaroo Kicker, found near Siberia Express (or, right now, sort of near Gold Coast and then a short hike) at Palisades Tahoe.

Cool Guy Rock is a popular cliff hucking spot, and Kangaroo Kicker is a popular backflip spot (windlip feature) directly under Siberia Express.

Kangaroo Kicker is right in the middle of Siberia Bowl, which, again, this weekend was hike-in only.

I partook in the march up the hill from Gold Coast, and it was not for the faint of heart. By the time you're at the top, you're just about worked for the next hour.

And then you look down at your line options, ranging from steep to jump-turn steep.

Seeing people point and go was crazy. Someone tomahawked pretty bad after trying a cliff. Guess that wasn't Connery, though, cause he stomped this one 100%.

Connery was stoked to announce his "First CLIFF + FLIP of the season!"

From the sounds of it, Connery was busy putting in that dry-training while the rest of us were re-watching ski films and doing light yoga to work off that beer bloat before bed.

Checks out, considering this is his eighth year sponsored by Blizzard/Technica and he has a history of sick film parts to uphold.

"It’s always weird standing at the top of this in-run early season, hoping all that gym time and training paid off. Super proud to put this one to my feet today!"

"I had no expectations for myself, which can often be the best mindset to have. HUGE shoutout to @afox_inspots for greasing his first backflip today since breaking his hip to bits. Amazing audio (and video) brought to you by @scottgaffski."

For those who don't yet know (or remember), Connery is the man, the myth and the legend who graced POWDER's 2020 cover in the nude, to represent the issue's coverage of "skis you need and nothing else."

Nothing else indeed.
