Palisades Tahoe Celebrates Reopening Of Chairlift That Didn't Run Last Season

The good news keeps piling up, just like the snowfall Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows (among all Tahoe resorts) saw last night.

Best of all, officials at Alpine Meadows announced that the rarely ridden "Alpine Bowl Chair opens tomorrow!"

Specifically, officials wrote that Alpine Bowl will spin from 9am-4pm (normal hours of operation), weather and conditions permitting.

Alpine Bowl services Palisades, Alpine Bowl (obviously!), Sunspot, Pete's Peril, and more. Not all of those are open yet, but the snow was pretty good up there yesterday before the storm, and now it's even better with the fresh coat of paint!

Officials at Alpine expressed their excitement at bringing back this iconic lift. Apparently, the reason was strictly technical difficulties with sourcing chairlift parts! "We're really excited to have this chair back online - You may recall that last season, this chair was closed while we replaced a very specific part that could not be manufactured in-house."

The part in question was the wiring harness. According to the Unofficial Alpine ski blog, "the absence of Alpine Bowl Chair was notable this season. It was a long wait in the early season for an elusive wiring harness to show up from a supplier that would allow for control of the new backup engine."

"Snowmaking, Lift Maintenance, Grooming, and Lift Operations have all put a ton of work into getting this chairlift back online. Thanks, team!"

"Charity will also be open and groomed tomorrow."

With over 7 inches of fresh pow, what more can you want?

Santa brought the goods this year.
