  • Padma Lakshmi is gracing the pages of Sports Illustrated's 2023 Swimsuit Issue, and she is bringing her A-game in the form of a metal thong bikini.

  • In pics she posted on Instagram, the 52-year-old showed off her mega-toned abs and butt in the suit.

  • When she wants to get her sweat on, Padma likes Pilates, jumping rope, and P.volve workouts.

Padma Lakshmi is super busy filming and promoting Taste the Nation, but she took a little time out from her busy schedule to, uh, model in a gold thong bikini for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. And she is next-level sculpted in the photos.

The 52-year-old posed in the metallic bikini, which showed off her toned abs and booty, along with some underboob for the 2023 edition. In one photo, Padma poses facing forward, looking strong all over as she kneels in the water. Then, she shows a side angle of her toned booty in the thong.

“When we said this year would be filled with epic women who empower, inspire and use their platforms to be both seen and heard, we meant it 👏,” Sports Illustrated wrote on Instagram. “As an author, activist, actress, model, philanthropist, and television host, there isn’t anything Padma Lakshmi doesn’t do and now, she’s joining the pages of the SI Swimsuit 2023 issue.”

The comments were *filled* with Padma's friends and fans cheering her on. “I fainted,” said Mindy Kaling, while someone else chimed in with, “Holy smokeshow!!! 🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍 spit out my coffee 😅😅😅😍😍😍.”

OK, so...what's Padma doing to look so strong these days? Padma previously told Women’s Health that she works out at least five times a week for 90 minutes at a time. She’s big into jumping rope and does an impressive 2,000 strokes a day (which takes about 35 minutes, BTW).

Padma also shared that she loves Pilates, which she originally started after her chiropractor recommended it for her back pain and scoliosis. “Pilates changed my body. It made me strong in places I didn’t know I needed to be,” she said. “I have a butt now that I didn’t have during my modeling career.”

Additionally, Padma mixes in some weight training and P.volve classes, a low-impact fitness regimen, and she isn’t afraid to do things like flip tires at the gym, crush it on the battle ropes, and box, all in one session, based on her IG.

As for her diet and nutrition, you should know that Padma ~loves~ good food (like, her Instagrams are about 80 percent food-focused). She previously shared with WH that she follows a plant-based diet. Breakfast is usually masala chai with a splash of milk, along with cottage cheese or yogurt with a toasted English muffin and blackberries or blueberries.

Lunch is often leftovers from dinner the night before. “We cook one fresh meal a day in our home and that's usually for dinner,” she said. “I purposely cook extra so that I will have enough for lunch.”

For a snack, Padma and her daughter Krishna may have apples and peanut butter or tomatoes and chips. When dinnertime rolls around, you can find Padma cooking things like lasagna and lentils and rice in a sautéed vegetable curry with an Indian yogurt-based sauce called raita.
