French fashion house Paco Rabanne has officially dropped its first name.

"On the eve of its 60th anniversary, Paco Rabanne becomes 'Rabanne,'" the brand announced on Wednesday. "Simplified and more international in spirit, the name change to 'Rabanne' represents a pivotal moment for the Maison as it celebrates a decade of remarkable growth and looks forward to shaping a new future uniting fashion and beauty as a one unique signature and lifestyle."

With a thriving track record in the fragrance world, Rabanne is looking to further its success in beauty, revealing plans to expand into the makeup space. The first collection will include eye shadows, lip products and glittery pigments reflective of the house's iconic paillettes.

The rebranding includes a new logo, which pays tribute to the house's founder, who passed away earlier this year, and his "avant-garde legacy" by pulling from the archives for inspiration. The typography is directly taken from the small letters featured on the bottle of Calandre, the first Paco Rabanne fragrance, released in 1969 — a "disruptive and rule-breaking approach," per the press release.

"With this new visual identity, the brand embraces a more refined signature, with the smooth silhouette of the 'R' monogram signaling a confident modern minimalism as the brand enters a chapter," Rabanne said, in a statement.

Despite this big shift and a foray into new categories, creative director Julien Dossena will remain in his role, which he has now held for ten years. In an interview with WWD, José Manuel Albesa, president of beauty and fashion at Rabanne's parent company, Puig, said: "Julien is here to stay and he's more excited than ever to explore new themes, and he's more energetic than ever."
