  • Lizzo returns to the stage on December 4 and Adele will begin her Las Vegas residency in January following her recent album release.

If you’ve had Adele’s newest album, 30, on repeat since its release on November 19, it’s safe to say you’re one of the thousands of the Skyfall singer’s fans. But one of Adele’s closest friends is also one of her biggest fans. Singer and rapper Lizzo recently opened up about the budding friendship between the two superstars and why they’re so alike.

“I met her at a birthday party or a Grammy party—I can't remember where because I was drunk at both," Lizzo told People. “She's been through similar things that I have, and she's given me really good advice.”

And according to Lizzo, the two instantly bonded over everything from their drive to succeed to their star signs.

“We have very similar personalities and the way we think, and we just connected in that way. We're both supreme divas,” Lizzo said in the interview. “We know our worth—and we're also both Tauruses!”

The Truth Hurts singer even sat in the front row at Adele’s “Adele: One Night Only” concert at the Griffith Observatory in Las Angeles, alongside stars like Oprah Winfrey, Drake, Donald Glover, Tyler Perry, Melissa McCarthy, Sarah Paulson, and more.

“When it came time for her performance, she extended an invitation, which was incredible—she put my ass in the front row, which was even more incredible,” Lizzo said in the interview.

And just like us fans at home, Lizzo finds herself constantly moved by Adele’s incredible ability to emotionally connect with her music and her audience. "It was so crazy; I was turned up. I said, ‘Adele's singing like she in the church—she is doing some sanging right now,” Lizzo said. “I need to give her that energy that she deserves.’ So, I was living, and we had a lot of fun.”

Do we see a potential collaboration between the two coming our way? Maybe. For now, we’re just excited to see what both singers will do next. Lizzo is scheduled to perform on December 4 in her first concert since the COVID-19 pandemic forced her to delay tour dates.

“I felt like I was going to be rusty, but it's almost like second nature," Lizzo told People in an interview about her upcoming performance. "I've learned to trust myself and trust my body again. My confidence was shook a little bit over this time, like, 'Will people care? Are people going to show up?' They proved me wrong. I got my confidence back.”

Adele recently released her fourth studio album 30 and announced her Las Vegas concert residency starting in January 2022 at the Colosseum of Caesars Palace Hotel.
