You Can Own the Dress Jessica Alba Wore To The Met Gala

Jessica Alba fans, rejoice: Today (like, right now!) you can shop items from her closet on VestiaireCollective.com. The actress and Honest Company founder partnered with the re-sale site and the charity Baby2Baby to bring you a personal collection of clothes and shoes just in time for holiday season. “Baby2Baby is an organization that I’ve been connected to for five years," she said. "They provide essentials for American babies and kids up to 12 years old from diapers and wipes to shoes and pajamas to blankets and safe places to sleep.”
The shoes run from size 7 to 8 and the clothing is available in 2s, 4s, and 6s. Our picks? Her Tory Burch Met Gala dress (below) and the sparkly Miu Miu heels (below, center). Everything ranges in price from $125 to $995—which, if you ask us, is fairly affordable considering that most pieces are designer, custom, and were worn by Alba! GLAMOUR: What is your favorite thing in this collection?
JESSICA ALBA: The Met Gala dress. Tory [Burch] is one of my really good friends and a mentor of mine, and it was a special night to go to with her. It was punk themed, which was so different for Tory to do! It’s a laser cut leather dress that’s a little bit edgy but still very classic in the silhouette.
GLAMOUR: Someone new is going to own that soon! How do you suggest she wear it to a holiday event?
JA: I would wear it with a pump—a black stiletto—and classic studs. And then pull my hair back into a messy bun and a cat eye and then call it a day. It’s really forgiving, but since it’s a mermaid style, I’d wear all the undergarments underneath to secure your situation. I did at the Met!
GLAMOUR: And what do you think are the next best pieces to wear to holiday events?

JA: There’s a custom black Prada dress, which I wore to a Vogue event at the Chateau [Marmont]. The Vivier shoes with the gorgeous crystal buckle would be great for a holiday party where you want to wear something simple and can put them on to take it to another level.
GLAMOUR: What was the hardest thing to let go of?
JA: I have a memory with all of the pieces, but at the end of the day, you have to think of clothes as a material thing. You have your memory, and no one can take that away from you, but items come and go. I really love getting vintage things that you might want to wear a few times and then pass on for something else. That’s what’s great about Vestiaire. You can have three-quarters of your closet be your classics—things that you know work well with your body type—but have fun with a quarter of your closet. You can indulge, but you don’t necessarily have to pay full price. You can go with that crazy magenta dress or insane Balmain pump...and then move on.
GLAMOUR: Do you have any other closet organizing hacks?

JA: On the weekends when you have your lazy staying-in-pajamas-all-day moments, put together your outfits for the week from head to toe. Then when you wake up in the morning [during the week], you won’t have to think too hard when you throw on your outfits. You won’t have to spend 30 minutes changing and hating it. And you always give yourself the liberty of trying new things when you’re prepared because it’s a thoughtful choice versus falling back on the same basic black tee that you wear every day. And if you have any kind of vacuum-seal container to store off-season items, I recommend doing that because the less you have visually, the easier it is for you to see what you have without feeling overwhelmed.
GLAMOUR: What’s one thing you’ll never get rid of? And one thing you’ll never buy again?
JA: I’ll never get rid of the dress that I got married in. I was 9 months pregnant and Cash and I had shotgun, impulsive vows at the courthouse in L.A. I got it from Barneys; it was literally the only thing I could zip up. One thing that I’m not into is kitten heel sandals. They always hurt my toes. You know when your toes hang on for dear life, like over the edge of your shoe? I will never buy shoes that will force me to have to do that!
GLAMOUR: Can you tell us what’s on your shopping list now that you have more closet space?
JA: I’ve been wearing a lot of platform sneakers because comfort is very meaningful to me right now. I also love a faux fur jacket. And if you don’t want to feel like you can only wear it for one season, get a classic color like black or leopard, not fuchsia. I bought a couple of pairs of relaxed, cropped, menswear-inspired slacks too. You can wear them with a pump, a sneaker, a flat and with a tshirt, sweatshirt, or button up. They remind me of boyfriend jeans.
