I Own a Dozen Luxury Perfumes, but Nothing Gets Me More Compliments Than This $29 Scent

The long-lasting fragrance outshines my $300+ bottles.

I’ll admit I enjoy the finer things in life — designer handbags, shoes, and luxury fragrances. When getting ready, my final step is always a few spritzes of perfume. I own well over a dozen luxury fragrances, some worth $250-plus a bottle.

I cherish every fragrance in my collection — I’ve acquired so many over the years that remind me of specific memories —  but none has gotten me more compliments than one in particular, and no, it’s not my $300 bottle. Dossier’s Musky Musk perfume has warranted more ‘you smell so good’ sentiments than anything else I wear, and it’s only $29 at Walmart.

Since I’m so fond of building out my vanity with fragrances to match my moods and outfits, I had my eye on a bottle of perfume I came across in a boutique last year that retailed for $145 — Juliette Has a Gun. I passed on purchasing it since it was out of my price range, but I never stopped dreaming about its fresh aroma. So, when I stumbled upon Dossier’s Musky Musk perfume and saw that it was inspired by the luxury scent I loved, I had to pick it up, and it was nearly identical and a fraction of the price (just $29 for a 1.7-ounce bottle).

The smell differs from anything else I own in my collection since it doesn’t feature top notes like most scents. Instead, it only consists of middle and base notes with one, in particular, I had never heard of before — Cetalox — a synthetic form of amber that resembles a woody, musky scent that gives my skin that ‘fresh out of the shower’ smell that lingers all day.

Dossier offers affordable perfumes inspired by luxury scents, and this isn’t the first fragrance I’ve tried from the brand. I also own Ambery Saffron, inspired by the popular Baccarat Rouge 540 fragrance, and again, it smells nearly identical and far more expensive than its under-$30 price tag. It’s an intelligent and reasonably priced way to experience a scent before investing in the real deal, but honestly, I’d keep repurchasing this $29 bottle in perpetuity.

I can’t wait to explore more of Dossier’s luxury-inspired fragrances since they are within a price range I’m comfortable with, and the quality of the bottles I already own has far exceeded my expectations.

Grab your own Dossier’s Musky Musk bottle at Walmart, and keep scrolling for other designer-inspired fragrances I’m eyeing.
