While packing for my upcoming cruise, I’ve started going through my extensive—and I mean extensive—collection of one-piece swimsuits and bikinis. I shouldn’t be shocked considering I’ve bought a new swimsuit every summer since middle school; my collection has now reached a staggering 43 styles. There are a few I can no longer fit in and others are on their last legs, but many are in surprisingly good shape.

I went through my collection and pulled the top 12 styles I’ll be lounging in this summer, including picks from Andie Swim, Cupshe, J.Crew, Free People, Reformation, Same Los Angeles, Vitamin A, and more that you can shop below.

12 Editor-Loved Swimsuits:

Cupshe V-Neck Ruched Tankini Swimsuit

IMO, tankinis are the superior swimsuit. You get similar coverage to a one-piece, with the sexiness and versatility of a bikini. My go-to for the last two summers has been Cupshe’s V-Neck Ruched Tankini Swimsuit. It comes in three colors, including navy, black, and turquoise-green, with sizes ranging from XS to XL. The design features a tank-style top with a V-neckline, discrete removable bra padding for extra support, adjustable crisscross straps, and classic bikini bottoms with moderate butt coverage. It’s made from a nylon-spandex blend that offers stretch and support for comfortable all-day wear.

Free People Oneone Brenda Crop Surf Top

Free People

I was the girl who would bear it all on the beach or at the pool—shamelessly. I’m talking thong bikini bottoms and a barely-there top, but as I’ve gotten older, modestly cut bathing suits are largely in my rotation. Recently, I purchased the Oneone Brenda Crop Surf Top and matching Gaby Surf Bottoms via Free People, and now I need them in every color.

The two-piece swimsuit is sold separately and comes with a short-sleeve, form-fitting crop top and high-waisted bottoms with a high-cut fit. It’s available in eight colors, including black, purple, blue, red, and yellow, and sizes range from XS to XL in both the top and bottom.

Reformation Joy One-Piece Swimsuit

Reformation

I love a retro-looking bathing suit, so it should come as no surprise that my recent impulse buy for my cruise was this Joy One-Piece Swimsuit from Reformation. The scooped-back and contrasting red finishing stopped me in my tracks. It also comes in a sky blue with white finishing around the neckline, arms, and legs. The design features a scooped front neckline, cheekier butt cut, and a snug close-to-the-body fit that’s not restricting. It’s also super lightweight and offers tons of stretch, so it’s easy to get on and off.
