This Owala Water Bottle's Leak-Proof Lid Might Make You Swap out Your Stanley

If you’re on the market for a dependable water bottle, look no further than Owala’s latest launch: The FreeSip Twist. Unlike Stanley tumblers (yes, even the viral Valentine’s Day collection), Owala bottles are known for their leak-proof design. A new iteration of the popular FreeSip water bottle, the Twist is available in 18- and 24-ounce sizes and features the same spill-proof qualities you know and love, with a removable lid.

Along with the brand’s signature pull straw, the Owala FreeSip Twist has a tight-fitting twist lid that makes it even easier to fill and clean the bottle. We tried out this new water bottle for ourselves: All you have to do is twist the lid and the spout to remove them, then pull the straw to remove it from the spout. What’s more, the spout, key mechanism (which is in the middle of the lid to seal the spout shut), gaskets, and straw are all dishwasher safe in the utensil section. The brand recommends hand washing the bottle itself and lid to preserve their quality.

Other perks to this hydration companion? First, its sleek and sturdy silhouette. It also has a triple-layer insulated stainless-steel build like other Owala water bottles, which keeps both hot and cold drinks at temperature for hours, and it works with carbonated drinks. During our testing, we noticed that hot and bubbly beverages didn’t spew out (even when shaken!), as the twist lid helps slowly release any pressure buildup as the bottle is opened. The brand does still recommend opening the bottle with caution to keep it from spraying. Plus, there's a new carry loop to make it easy to carry and hydrate on the go.

After testing the collection, we noticed that there are a lot of specs that set Owala apart from Stanley. Take its 40-ounce tumbler, for example. Like the brand’s entire line, this Owala product has a leak-proof design, thanks to its screw-top lid and rubber gasket that prevent leaks around the bottle’s mouth and straw. If you want to skip the straw altogether, Owala has a rubber stopper around the mouthpiece that helps ward off splashes and spills.
