Overwhelmed by dog training? This local group will come to you

FENTON — A local business is helping residents train their dogs in the comfort of their home.

Paradise Dog Training in Fenton offers in-home dog obedience classes. Anyone interested can contact 810-714-4861 for more information and to sign up. There are three lessons for a total cost of $375.

The center trains assistant dogs and facility therapy dogs for schools and hospitals. Owner Lori Grigg said the center has been training dogs for more than 40 years.

“We’ve been doing this a long time."

Grigg eventually decided to retire from group classes and begin offering private lessons. Paradise Dog Training will travel within a 90-minute drive of Fenton, including Oakland County and Livingston County. Anyone can request any day of the week for lessons.

Paradise can help train dogs in retrieving items, helping people walk, pulling wheelchairs, jumping, dealing with food aggression and more. Grigg said Paradise won’t work with dogs who bite.

The first class will be an introduction to the dog, determining the correct equipment and mapping out a training plan. The next two lessons will take place in the next two weeks. Each lesson is about an hour in length.

Paradise has been offering in-home classes for a few years but “haven’t branched out on them,” Grigg said.

“A lot of people don’t know that we do them,” Grigg said.

People know about Paradise from its many years of service, Grigg said. She believes in-home classes are beneficial to customers.

“A lot of people just don’t have time to attend a dog obedience class and it’s just more convenient for us to go to them,” Grigg said.

Grigg added she’s received positive feedback from customers about the service.

“The phone’s already starting to ring,” she said.
