I overplucked my eyebrows as a teen — so I got a $5K transplant that makes me feel younger
Call ’em golden arches.
A 29-year-old content creator from Los Angeles says she ruined her eyebrows by overplucking them as a teenager.
Feeling self-conscious, she decided to plunk down about $5,100 to have hair from the back of her head transplanted onto her face during a four-hour procedure. The November operation has made her feel “younger” and more “confident.”
“Eyebrows are so important to me. Now, I love them so much,” Siham Cyrine gushed to SWNS.
Cyrine says she had naturally thick eyebrows growing up, but she ended up plucking them a lot after being bullied.
“People said, ‘You have a unibrow‘ and laughed,” she shared.
Her eyebrows never grew back, she wistfully recalled, and they started thinning out even more in her 20s.
Cyrine tried microblading — a tattooing technique — but found the ink bled out.
She also didn’t get her desired shape.
“I used to spend 45 minutes on my eyebrows alone,” she lamented. “When I didn’t have make-up on, my eyebrows were an insecurity.”
She started to research her options and noticed that Chrissy Teigen, 38, underwent an eyebrow transplant in 2021.
Cyrine said she went for several consultations before settling on the Dr. Ducu Clinic in London.
She plotted her perfect eyebrow shape before a small portion of her hair was taken from the back of her head.
The follicles were then placed carefully on Cyrine’s face.
She said her brows looked “really odd” at first — they scabbed over before her hair fell off.
Her eyebrows started to regrow in December, and now they are nearly fully grown. Cyrine only takes 10 minutes to style them in the mornings these days.
She says her eyebrows will take nine months to fully develop, but she’s already happy with the results.
“I feel more myself,” Cyrine enthused. “They make me feel a bit younger.”
