There Will Be Over a Dozen New Ways to Get to Mexico From the U.S. Next Year

Aeromexico and Delta Air Lines are launching 17 new flights between the U.S. and Mexico in 2024.

Aeromexico and Delta Air Lines have expanded their codeshare partnership to launch 17 new flights between the U.S. and Mexico starting next year.

Starting Jan. 1, travelers will now be able to fly between destinations such as Monterrey. to New York or Los Angeles, and Mexico City to Boston and Salt Lake City on the new routes, according to the airlines' announcement.

For travelers looking to visit Mexico City (MEX), there will be new Aeromexico-operated service from Detroit, Salt Lake City, Washington D.C., and Boston. The airline will have service to another airport in Mexico City (NLU) from McAllen, TX and Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. 

Aeromexico will also begin new service from Monterrey, Mexico to Atlanta, Salt Lake City, New York's JFK and Los Angeles. From Bajio, Mexico, the airline will launch service to Atlanta and Detroit.  The airline will also launch routes to both Atlanta and Detroit from Bajio, Queretaro, and Guadalajara, and operate a direct route from Atlanta to Mérida.

With the addition of the 17 new flight routes, the Aeromexico will have a total of 60 daily flights to the US by July 2024.

Many of the cities Aeromexico will operate the new service are hubs for Delta, which allows passengers to connect to a destination in their route network.

Aeromexico and Delta are currently members of the same SkyTeam alliance. This means that travelers can utilize reciprocal frequent flyer status and benefits between the airlines, and also have a combined reservation where their bag can be checked through to their final destination. 

Mexico currently ranks as the fifth most popular country for international tourist arrivals, according to the UNWTO Tourism Recovery Tracker. Mexico has seen a 11 percent increase in international tourists in 2023 when compared to 2022.

Another Mexico-based airline, Viva Aerobus recently announced several new flights to Mexico from the United States including Austin, Denver, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Orlando.
