Well-known portable blender brand BlendJet is recalling about 4.8 million BlendJet 2 blenders, due to electrical and mechanical malfunctions.

This recall affects all BlendJet 2 portable blenders, except those with a serial number that begins with 5543 or higher, as those already feature the updated base. The recalled products were sold at popular stores like Target, Walmart and Kohl’s across the U.S., as well as online at sites like Amazon.

In the press release, BlendJet claims that the vast majority of customers who purchased a BlendJet 2 in or after November 2023 received the updated base with their blender. Still, the company recommends customers check if their device is affected by the recall by using the serial number search tool on their website.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commision, there have been around 329 reports of blades breaking while in use, 17 reports of overheating or fires resulting in property damage and 50 reports for minor burns or laceration injury. Because of the hazards posed by the blades and the machine’s overheating, consumers who have a BlendJet 2 that is subject to the recall should immediately stop using it, request a replacement base and then dispose of the product following all federal, state and local environmental regulations.

In order to request a replacement blender base, BlendJet states that customers “will need to remove and cut the rubber seal from the base of the recalled BlendJet 2 into three or more pieces and send a photo showing the serial number on the bottom of the unit and its rubber seal in pieces to BlendJet.”

For more information on this recall or to request a replacement base, call BlendJet’s toll-free number, 844-334-0562 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit the BlendJet Safety and Recall site.
