The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Services (FSIS) announced that approximately 35,430 pounds of Johnsonville brand turkey kielbasa sausage have been recalled due to the potential for foreign material contamination. The recall was issued by the manufacturer, Salm Partners, LLC of Denmark, Wis. after the FSIS received complaints from consumers reporting they found pieces of rubber in the ready-to-eat turkey sausages.

This comes following another recall by the same manufacturer in January, wherein over 130,000 pounds of turkey kielbasa sausages were recalled after consumers reported finding bone fragments in the products.

Which Johnsonville Turkey Kielbasa Were Recalled?

The recalled Johnsonville turkey kielbasa sausages were manufactured by Salm Partners, LLC between Oct. 30-31, 2023, and shipped to retail locations nationwide. The packaging contains the following identifying information:

  • Size: 12-ounce vacuum-packed packages containing a single piece of "Johnsonville POLISH KIELBASA TURKEY"

  • Establishment Number: P-32009

  • Best By Date: The recalled sausages will have the "Best By" dates 05/17/24 and 05/18/24 printed on the side of the packaging.

You can view images of the product labels on the FSIS website.

To date, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions or injury due to consumption of the recalled products. And while the products have been removed from store shelves, the FSIS is concerned that the recalled turkey kielbasa may still be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers.

If you have the recalled Johnsonville turkey kielbasa sausage in your fridge or freezer, the FSIS urges you not to consume it. Instead, throw the product(s) away or return it to the original place of purchase for a refund.
