Over 2,000 Pounds of Frozen Pasta Products Are Being Recalled

Over 2,000 pounds of frozen pasta products are being recalled due to an inspection issue. Avanza Pasta issued the recall because some of its products were distributed without being routinely inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

About 2,237 pounds of meat and poultry pastas are included in the recall in both ravioli and tortellini varieties. The food items were produced between the dates October 5, 2019 and March 12, 2021. An extensive list of the recalled pastas can be found on the USDA website here that describes their package sizes, brands, product names, and best by or use by dates. Some of the expiration dates go into 2022, so it's important to check if any of the products are in your possession at this time.

Although the recall was issued by Avanza Pasta located in Evanston, IL, the products feature labels that include more brand names than just Avanza. Recalled items can potentially include brand names like Ambrosino's, Conte De Savoia, Frankie's Deli, Nature's Best, Prisco's Family Market, Piatto Pronto, and more.

Items were sent to restaurants, distributors, and retail locations across Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. For those that may have the recalled pastas in their possession, the USDA urges customers not to consume them and to either dispose of the food or return it to the place of purchase. Those with more questions about the recall can reach out to Avanza Pasta at (847) 584-289.
