Over 100-year-old Neosho Coca-Cola mural receives some restoration

NEOSHO, Mo. — A business in downtown Neosho is doing its part to maintain a piece of the town’s history.

Owners of The Rowe Boutique say they recently preserved the Coca-Cola mural on the exterior of their building. Officials say it was first painted between 1911, when the building was built, and 1916, and is a well-known staple of the town.

Lauri Lyerla, the CEO of the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce, owns the building, and said it took a lot of brick restoration and several coats of Graffiti Shield, but the piece of art should be able to withstand the elements for the foreseeable future.

“Art in general is important to me, my dad is an artist and has been very involved with the Neosho Arts Council. They are in the process of saving and preserving murals all over Neosho and the area, so that’s kind of just close to my heart, to preserve it,” said Lyerla.

“It’s so cool because on our website, you’ll see our building all over it, with our clothes. We have people come and take prom pictures with it all the time, it’s just a really cool part of Neosho and we are so glad that we get to be a part of it,” said Kennedy Jackson, The Rowe Boutique Owner.

The mural and boutique are located at 115 N. Jefferson St.
