Falling, 2005

Based on the novel by Elizabeth Jane Howard, this TV drama follows writer Daisy (Dame Penelope Wilton), who develops a relationship with the manipulative Henry (Michael Kitchen), when recruiting his help to take care of her overgrown garden. Elenor played Little Daphne, a young version of a character used in flashbacks.

She then starred in The Illusionist, a mystery drama film with Edward Norton and Jessica Biel in 2006.

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, 2008

Arguably the role that put Eleanor Tomlinson on our radar was as Jazz in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, one of the Ace Gang that starts dating Robbie's brother Tom.

"We did a lot of giggling [on set]," Eleanor told Cosmopolitan, to celebrate the film's 15th anniversary (!) "We were our own little Ace Gang. I don't know who made up the dance routine. Maybe it was Georgia?"

She also starred in Einstein and Eddington in 2008, a film with David Tennant, and then in a Russell T. Davies BBC drama called The Sarah Jane Adventures in 2009.

Alice in Wonderland, 2010

Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in Wonderland starred Johnny Depp as the mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Mia Wasikowska as Alice. Eleanor played Fiona Chattaway, a gossipy sister who enjoyed teasing other characters about their misfortunes.

Eleanor also starred in The Lost Future that same year, a film about group of post-apocalyptic survivors starring Sam Claflin.

Jack the Giant Slayer, 2013

One of her first lead roles came in a Jack and the beanstalk story adaptation, alongside the likes of Ewan McGregor and Nicholas Hoult. She played Princess Isabelle, who ends up a captive in the giant's land.

The same year, she starred in Siberian Education, an Italian crime-drama film, and also The White Queen, a historical drama which aired on the BBC. Eleanor was also Alice Cunningham in an episode of the Poirot TV show, as well as part of an ensemble cast in Death Comes to Pemberley.

In 2014, she was in Styria, while in 2015, she starred in short film A Stranger Kind.

Poldark, 2015 - 2019

The historical television series based on the novels of the same name starred Aidan Turner in the lead role. Eleanor played Demelza Poldark (née Carne), wife to Ross Poldark and the Mistress of Nampara.

Another lead role for Eleanor was the thriller/action film Alleycats, where she played Danni, who is suspicious of the circumstances in which her brother Chris (played by John Whitehouse) dies in an illegal bike race.

Loving Vincent, 2017

Eleanor played Adeline Ravoux in the critically-acclaimed Loving Vincent, a fictionalised retelling of Vincent van Gogh's death. Following his suicide, the son of a postman is sent to deliver a posthumous letter to the artist's brother.

In 2018, she starred as Georgie Raoul-Duval in the film Colette, alongside Keira Knightley, Dominic West and Fiona Shaw. That same year, TV drama Ordeal by Innocence came out on BBC, where she played Mary alongside the likes of Bill Nighy and Matthew Goode.

The War of the Worlds, 2019

The series was an adaptation of the 1898 novel of the same name by H. G. Wells, based on a sudden Martian invasion on planet earth. Eleanor played Amy, who falls in love with George, who is shunned by society as he fails to get a divorce from his wife to be with Amy. Daisy Edgar-Jones also stars.

In 2021, she starred in Intergalactic as Candy Skov-King, a TV series about a group of fierce female convicts who break free and go on the run.

Love, Wedding, Repeat, 2020

Jack's little sister is getting married, and alternative versions of the same day unfold as he tries to balance an angry ex-girlfriend, an uninvited wedding guest and a misplaced sleep sedative. Sam Claflin plays Jack, Eleanor plays his little sister, Hayley.

Another BBC crime thriller, this time starring the likes of Stephen Merchant and Christopher Walken. Eleanor played Lady Gabriella Penrose-Howe, a social media influence with anger and substance abuse issues, who is completely out-of-touch with society.

The Nevers, 2021 - 2023

The same year, Eleanor starred in the sci-fi television series The Nevers, which follows a group of Victorian women who gain sudden and mysterious powers, and must use them to go up against a string of relentless enemies. Eleanor played Mary Brighton, who uses her singing voice to unite people. James Norton also stars.

A Disney+ production with Bel Powley in the lead role, playing Miep Gies, the Dutch woman who risked everything to shelter Anne Frank and her family from the Nazis during WWII. Eleanor played Tess in three episodes, Miep's best friend.

Last year, Channel 4's The Couple Next Door took over our timelines, thanks to its twisty-turny story about a couple who get caught up in an open relationship. Also starring Alfred Enoch, Sam Heughan and Jessica De Gouw, Eleanor played Evie, who thought she was happily married, until the couple move house and their relationship takes an unexpected - and sinister - turn.

Most recently, Eleanor played One Day, which tells the story of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew (played by Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall), which spans across a 15 year period. The pair meet on the final day of university, and embark on years of friendship, falling out and eventually (spoiler alert) falling in love.

Eleanor plays Leo's wife and mother of his daugther, Sylvie.
