Unfortunately, our invite to this year’s Vanity Fair Oscar Party seems to be lost in the mail. We’ll be okay, though, because we consulted Darcy Miller, party planner and founding editor of Martha Stewart Weddings, for advice on how to plan our very own Oscar-themed party.

“I wrote a book called Celebrate Everything — so obviously I’m going to plan an Oscar party,” Darcy tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

Here are Darcy’s favorite ways to make your Oscar viewing party feel glamorous, and make your own stellar cast — your friends and family — feel starstruck.

Red Carpet-Ready Home

“You can never go wrong with gold. Add elements of gold on the table: Metallic trays for snacks, gold bowls of extra treats, confetti and table cloth.”

“All you need to do is get popcorn and lots of fun mix-ins,” Darcy says. “In my popcorn, I’m going to add some sprinkles, a little salt for the salty and sweet, and then I’m gonna top mine off with some dots. It’s really fun, easy, no cooking required, and your guests are gonna really love it.”

Movie-Inspired Menu

“One way to make your Oscars party great is to personalize your menu to the movies,” Darcy recommends. “We know Al Pacino in The Irishman loved ice cream sundaes… Since it’s the night of the stars, bring the stars into your ice cream sundae. So you can take a star cookie cutter and you can use it for brownies, or you can make cookies.”

“We know everyone gets really dressed up, so why shouldn’t your cocktails? We have these drink charms, which are really fun, easy, you can print them out, cut them out, you can put all your guests’ names or you can put the nominees’ names. Every time that person goes up or they win, you can have a little toast. You can download the templates at darcymillerdesigns.com.”
