Oscars 2018: Beanie Feldstein Wears Rhinestone Hair on the Red Carpet

If there was ever a night to break out the rhinestone hair accessories, the Oscars are it.

For the 2018 ceremony, Beanie Feldstein, who plays Saoirse Ronan's BFF in Ladybird, wore her dark hair in long, mermaid waves. The look featured a low ponytail with a v-shaped, rhinestone accessory. Usually, when you hear "rhinestone hair accessory," you think "tiara," but this is a totally different — and majorly understated — take on gem-encrusted hair.

Bobby Eliot dreamed up Beanie's look using products from Dove Hair. "For tonight's look, I was inspired by Beanie's beautiful Sachin & Babi gown," Bobby exclusively told Teen Vogue. "It has this amazing ombré color from white to grey to black with a delicate sequin overlay. I wanted to keep the focus on the gown and create something timeless with the hair. Beanie and I decided on a soft bouncy texture with a center part and swept it back by pinning the top away. To adorn the look, I finished it off with a crystal comb, which played perfectly with the gown."

To create soft waves, he started by applying Dove's Style+Care Curls Defining Mousse ($3.99) to Beanie's damp roots, then lightly spritzing the ends with Dove Style+Care Smooth & Shine Heat Protection Spray to the ends to protect the hair from any heat damage. Next, he blow-dried the hair with a boar bristle round brush, and sprayed Dove Style+Care Compressed Micro Mist Flexible Hold Hairspray generously through the hair when it was dry. He parted her hair down the middle with a tail comb, then curled it with a marcel iron and sprayed it again with hairspray. After the hair had cooled and set, he brushed the curls to create the wavy texture. Then, he swept back the sides and top, leaving out some hair on the sides, and pinned it back with the crystal comb. One more spritz of the hairspray, and Beanie was good to go.

This is hardly the first time Beanie has served up some serious prom-spiration on the red carpet. In fact, at the Screen Actors Guild awards in January, she wore her actual prom dress, which was fitting given the fact that Lady Bird ends with her character, Julie, at the prom. "“It’s just a gorgeous dress, and I love how my character’s story ends at the prom,” she said of the look. “So like, for the first time I’m going to an awards show as a nominee with the cast, it’s like, ‘You gotta wear your prom dress, girl, and honor Julie.’”

Thanks to Beanie Feldstein and her red carpet glam, you now have hair and dress ideas for this year's prom.
