Oscar Mayer Ending Summer by Selling Hot Dog-Flavored Popsicles

Yes, you read that right.

Oscar Mayer has pushed the boundaries of what we see as a dessert with its release of a hot dog-flavored popsicle called the "Cold Dog."

According to the official press release from KraftHeinz, the new item is "a bun-derfully odd and surprisingly delicious frozen pop flavored like the beloved Oscar Mayer wiener."

The company teamed up with Popbar to make this unique food dream a reality, with the popsicle said to boast "both refreshing and smokey, umami notes of Oscar Mayer’s iconic wiener–all topped with a signature swirl of 'mustard.'"

Oscar Mayer made the Cold Dog after a social media campaign asked people whether the concept was "Stupid or Genius." Well, it turns out that the majority voted genius, and so the company decided to actually make the Cold Dog.

"After the overwhelming fan excitement for our beloved Cold Dog, it was a no-brainer to make this hot dog-inspired frozen pop a reality," stated Head of North American Brand Communications Anne Field in the official release.

"For more than 130 years, Oscar Mayer has been sparking smiles and bringing levity into everyday moments, and we are thrilled to bring fans another wonderfully odd way to enjoy our iconic wiener while beating the summer heat."

If you want to get your hands on a Cold Dog, the product will be available for only $2.00 at select Popbar locations in Long Beach, New York City, Alpharetta-Atlanta and New Orleans, as long as supplies last.

Along with that, Oscar Mayer will have samples of the limited edition product available in its Wienermobile–which has been made over for the occasion.

According to the press release, "Fittingly outfitted as a frozen pop truck, the Wienermobile features frosted windows, icicle-inspired decorations and more as it travels the hot dog highways to popular summertime destinations in NYC and the Jersey Shore now through August 27."

The Cold Dog will not be available for long, so if you are eager to try this interesting product, you might want to hurry!

For more information on where to find the limited-time treat, track the Weinermobile on the brand's website or visit its Instagram page.
