A trio of heavyweight acting talent is coming together for a film produced by Martin Scorsese. Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, and Gerard Butler have all joined the cast of In The Hand of Dante, a crime thriller about Dante Alghieri's The Divine Comedy.

To be more specific, it’s about Oscar Isaac trying to steal The Divine Comedy, a 1321 Italian narrative poem considered to be one of the world’s greatest works of literature.

Isaac plays Nick who, after being tasked by a black market smuggling gang to authenticate the original manuscript, winds up stealing it for himself. It’s a little Da Vinci Code, a little National Treasure.

At the same time, way back in the past, we follow Dante Alghieri himself as he struggles to write his magnum opus. These dual narratives, split across two timelines, could get complicated, but Hands of Dante is itself in safe hands.

It’s being directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Julian Schnabel's (At Eternity's Gate, The Diving Bell & The Butterfly). The film, an adaptation of Nick Tosches' novel, is currently shooting in Venice.

It's a busy time for all three actors, in particular Jason Momoa, who's to play new DC superhero Lobo. He'll also join forces with Dave Bautista in The Wrecking Crew.
