Oscar 2024: ‘Barbie’ and ‘Poor Things’ Are Nominated for Best Costume Design

The complete list of nominations for the 2024 Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, was revealed on Tuesday by Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles.
Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” leads the pack with 13 nominations, while Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things” comes in second with 11.

In the Best Costume Design category, blockbuster hit “Barbie” will dispute the award with “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Napoleon,” “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things.”
Ellen Mirojnick, the costume designer for “Oppenheimer” who won the first nomination of her 40-year-old career, celebrated the milestone. “I’m ecstatic to receive my first Oscar nomination, it is a dream come true! Having the privilege to work alongside Chris Nolan and the entire ‘Oppenheimer’ team has been one of the greatest thrills of my career. I am over the moon,” she said via statement.
Costume designer Holly Waddington, nominated for her work in “Poor Things,” said the movie was an “opportunity of a lifetime.” “I had the great privilege of working with such a wonderfully talented cast and creative team,” Waddington said.
Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” was snubbed in the Best Hair and Makeup category, for which “Golda,” “Maestro,” “Oppenheimer,” “Poor Things” and “Society of the Snow” were nominated.
The 2024 Oscars will take place on March 10 and will stream live on ABC.
