Original 'Single Chair' From The 1940s Returned To Colorado Ski Area

On September 2nd, Al Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin, Colorado's Chief Operating Officer, shared a post to his blog. In it, he documented the foundations of a now-decommissioned single-seater chairlift constructed on A-Basin's piste in the 1940s. The towers and chairs for said lift are long gone.

Henceroth's blog post wasn't just a trip down memory lane; he also had a request: "For several years, I have been searching for one of these single chairs to restore and hang in the A-Frame. If you have one, let's talk."

And guess what? Roughly three weeks later, the shot in the dark worked out.

From the caption:

"Found A Single Chair: The blog post worked. Rob Diehl reached out to me to say that he had one of the original single chairs installed for the 1947-48 season. He was excited that we were interested in it. We are going to take some time to refinish it and then display it in a place for everyone to enjoy."

Based on Henceroth's September 2nd blog post, the recovered chair is destined for A-Basin's A-Frame Lodge. But first, Henceroth and the A-Basin crew plan to refinish the chair so it looks brand spanking new.

Next time you're at A-Basin, keep your eyes peeled for the baby blue single-seater.
