Orgain just announced a nationwide recall on their Organic Protein Powder + Superfoods creamy chocolate fudge flavor, according to the Food and Drug Administration. This is because the product may contain sesame, an undeclared allergen.

The chocolate protein powder was sold at Costco locations across the country from September 8 through September 28. The 2.64-pound containers were sold in 33 states and territories, including Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

While Costco has notified its members that have purchased the product, check your protein powder if this allergen could impact your household. The affected containers’ expiration dates range from July 31, 2025, to August 16, 2025.

No illnesses have been reported to be connected to this recall, but those allergic to sesame that consume this product may experience an allergic reaction as severe as anaphylaxis. This is a life-threatening reaction that can include symptoms like hives, nausea or vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and, in most severe cases, tightness of the throat and cardiac arrest. The only treatment for an anaphylactic reaction is epinephrine, so if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms after consuming this product, call 911 immediately.

You can return your recalled product to your local Costco location for a full refund. Customers are encouraged to contact Orgain Consumer Care Team at 888-881-4246 or support@orgain.com, Monday through Friday from 8 to 11 a.m. and 12 to 5 p.m. PST for any related questions and concerns.
