Oreo and PFLAG Collaborate on Limited-Edition Cookies Packs for Pride

The official start of LGBTQ+ Pride month is on June 1, but Oreo is getting into the celebratory spirit a couple of weeks early. For the third consecutive year, the beloved sandwich cookie brand has partnered with LGBTQ+ advocacy organization PFLAG National, and this year they're releasing an official Pride cookie pack.

The limited edition Pride package is covered with brightly colored messages of love and support (like "Be exactly who you are. The world needs more of that") and it was designed with a space for you to add your own personalized note before giving it to someone you care about. And the Pride theme doesn't stop with the wrapper, either: each cookie is stamped with the word PROUD.

"We're proud to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and encourage active allyship today and every day, and excited to introduce the Oreo brand's first official Pride pack, made in collaboration with our friends at PFLAG National," Olympia Portale, Oreo's marketing director, said in a statement. "Words of love are needed now more than ever. This pack is our love letter to the LGBTQ+ community and we hope that allies everywhere take advantage of the open space to write their own messages of support and share with family and friends."

"We are honored to expand our commitment to active allyship with our friends at Oreo and share messages of support on the Oreo Pride Pack," Brian K. Bond, the Executive Director of PFLAG National, added. "We know that notes of love and affirmation — no matter how small — can have a real impact on our LGBTQ+ loved ones."

Oreo and PFLAG have also collaborated on an informative Pride website that features a number of resources for friends, family, and allies who want to support the LGBTQ+ community. It has links to explainers about the importance of using proper pronouns; a helpful list of vocabulary, acronyms, and abbreviations; and suggestions for becoming a better ally.

Last month, Oreo released a short film called "The Note" about a Chinese-American man who was preparing to come out to his grandmother and other members of his extended family. "Consistent, ongoing support and public acceptance are a crucial part of being an active ally," Portale said at the time. "We hope that any parent, family, or friend of an LGBTQ+ person — no matter where they are on their allyship journey — who watches 'The Note' will be inspired to be an ally, time and time again."

Oreo's new limited-edition Pride packs are currently available for pre-sale on Oreo's website, and they'll be on retailers' shelves starting on Wednesday, May 18.
