Few things heal your inner child quite like the return of a snack from your childhood. That's how the psychology behind that works, yeah? Well, even if not, it's still great news that Oreo is bringing back Cakesters, and I'm already counting down the days until I can have these fluffy treats back in my life once more.

For those of you who don't remember Cakesters (I can't relate since I've been dreaming of them since they left shelves), they're the same chocolate cookie and vanilla filling but instead of the thin wafers of an Oreo, it's more of a fluffy cake. The announcement from Oreo comes after "10 years of requests, pleas and direct messages," and the Cakesters will be coming back to stores in 2022.

The original Cakesters are a fan favorite but Nabisco is also adding a new flavor to the lineup that combines another classic childhood treat: Nutter Butter. Nutter Butter Cakesters are made with real peanut butter filling sandwiched between two soft peanut butter snack cakes.

Both flavors will be permanently added to the Oreo and Nutter Butter portfolios available nationwide in 2022. If you want a sneak peek, you can follow Oreo on their social platforms for more updates and the chance to win exclusive Cakesters before they launch nationwide. Who would have thought in the year 2022 we'd be able to snack on Dunkaroos and Oreo Cakesters? I guess it's true what they say: What goes around always comes back around.
