Oregon's Timberline Lodge Could See 100+ Inches Of Snow This Week

Timberline Lodge in Oregon posted an exciting announcement to Instagram with the words we're all been waiting for. "WINTER IS HERE!"

Officials further predicted that "winds should die down overnight and tomorrow looks much more promising for you all to get some deep turns in!"

"We’ll make the call as early as possible in the morning. Check our conditions page (link in bio) for most current updates."

As of today, the power is out at Timberline: according to the Conditions Report, the "power is out at Timberline and we're running on generators. THERE IS SO MUCH SNOW and more to come! Lifts are scheduled to operate at Timberline from 9am to 4pm, weather permitting. Summit Pass operations will be determined in the morning."

The resort saw 8 inches yesterday, with 18 inches in the last 24 hours and 56 inches in the last 72 hours. There is a base depth of 84 inches.

The slide in the social media post above details the forecast, explaining that today there is 10 to 14 additional inches possible, and tonight there is 17 to 23 inches possible.

Due to the upcoming forecast, Timberline warns people to "be aware of deep snow hazards and always ride with a buddy."

"If you head this way, chains and or traction tires are required and winter driving conditions do exist."

"Bring a shovel in your vehicle – snow will get deep in the parking areas. Please be patient when driving in these winter conditions and always drive with care."

Driving is often the most dangerous part of skiing, so skiers should proceed cautiously. Once you're on the hill, though, we hope you let loose!
