The Ordinary Just Launched Its First Cleanser — and It’s Only $8
The Ordinary doesn't have one popular serum — there's a handful of them. The Deciem skincare brand's anti-aging Buffet, Granactive Retinoid Emulsion, and hydrating Hyaluronic Acid are fan-favorites that consistently sell out, but its most in-demand product doesn't actually exist. Well, until now.
After a lot of begging from Deciem's customers and social media following, The Ordinary has finally delivered on its promise to come out with a facial cleanser. The Squalane Cleanser is the brand's first new product of 2019 and launch under the company's new sole CEO, Nicola Kilner.

The Squalene Cleanser is a dual-action formula that removes makeup and cleanses skin without leaving it dry and stripped. It's made with the brand's 100 percent squalane oil, a plant-derived version of "squalene," a moisturizing agent that's naturally found in our skin. The cleanser also contains nourishing lipidic esters which work to gently breakdown and dissolve makeup, dirt, and oil from the skin. Not to mention, the formula is vegan, soap-free, and void of known harsh irritants, so it's suitable for all skin types. Like the rest of The Ordinary's products, the Squalane Cleanser is extremely affordable. A tube of it will only set you back $8.
The unique texture of The Ordinary's cleanser is what really sets it apart from the other makeup-removing products out there. It has a balm-like texture that you warm up in your hands for a few seconds before massaging it all over your dry face. When rinsed with warm water, it turns into a creamy, milky oil that melts and dissolves makeup and grime.
To be honest, when Deciem sent me the cleanser to try, my first impression of it wasn't great because the tube is so small. But, a little bit of the balm does actually go a long way, and hey, it's under $10. A dime-sized amount of the balm was enough to massage my entire face. My complexion makeup came off easily when I started rinsing it, so I took things one step further and tried it on my mascara. Given the cleanser's mild ingredients, my eyes didn't burn or get irritated. Once I patted my face off with a towel and completely dry, my skin felt soft and not tight.

The bottom line: At only $8 The Ordinary's Squalene Cleanser takes off makeup and cleanses skin just as well as the more expensive options I've tried. Guess there's nothing ordinary about this cleanser. (Get it?)
