Oprah Winfrey Reveals Why She Keeps a Whole Octopus in the Fridge at All Times

Oprah Winfrey has been in the public eye for quite some time. So there are bound to be a few wild theories and ridiculous stories about the former talk show host floating around on the internet.

While Winfrey was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week, host Jimmy Kimmel asked The Color Purple star to confirm or deny a series of rumors about her from online, including one story that states the television producer keeps an entire octopus in her kitchen fridge.

In a clip reposted on the official Jimmy Kimmel Live! Instagram page (see above), the talk show host asks the 70-year-old media mogul if the rumor is true. And much to our surprise, Winfrey shares that the story is, in fact, true. “Stedman loves octopus,” Winfrey tells Kimmel, referring to her longtime partner, Stedman Graham.

Like the rest of us, Kimmel wants to know more. “And he eats it that much?” the late-night host asks, to which she responds, “Like for breakfast almost every day.” Meanwhile, the audience members can’t help but laugh at the...strange piece of trivia.

Winfrey finds her partner's love for octopus to be “strange” and says she hasn’t gotten used to seeing the sea creature in her fridge daily. “And let me just tell you, when you open that refrigerator and there’s that octopus just sitting there, it’s a gross-out thing,” she tells viewers.

“Because it has all the tentacles and the head, it’s just…yeah, it’s real,” she continues. “[And] every morning when he’s eating it, I say, ‘I believe you’re the only person having this for breakfast right now.’”

But apparently, that's not all—Graham eats the octopus with okra. Baffled, Kimmel then asks Winfrey, “[He] eats it as a combo?” and she confirms that he does apparently. The 56-year-old comedian (and this year’s Oscars host) adds, “He [sure does] love things that start with ‘O.’” Winfrey says with a laugh, “That was good! That was quick.”

That’s some breakfast combo you got there, Stedman.
