Oprah’s Favorite Handbag Is Notorious for Always Being Sold Out — Except for Right Now

Yes, Oprah’s Favorite Things is back, and yes, it includes that elusive handbag. The bag in question? Telfar’s iconic Shopping Bag, of course, which is notorious for always being out of stock. But right now, in a very rare occurrence, you can snag the bag in a limited-edition shade at Amazon.
The iconic Telfar bag launched in 2014, but it really took the world by storm in 2020. Created by NYC-based designer Telfar Clemens, the bag has been spotted on the arms and shoulders of tons of stars, from Beyoncé to Bella Hadid to Dua Lipa. As it continued to become one of the hottest accessories on the market, demand became so high that the Shopping Bag was consistently sold out — and it still is to this day. However, the bag became rarely available on Amazon when Oprah included it on her Favorite Things list in 2020 — and now, it’s back again.

Available in purple and three sizes (small, medium, and large), the bag ranges in price from $150 to $257, which is on the more affordable side for a designer bag. That’s part of Telfar’s entire allure: high-end designs at accessible prices. The faux leather bag has a boxy, rectangular shape and features the brand’s logo embossed on the front. It has both shorter handles and longer crossbody (or shoulder) straps, a zippered inner compartment, and a magnetic closure. Oprah told Oprah Daily that the “tote is big enough to hold a laptop and gets oohs and aahs on city streets.”

The Telfar Shopping Bag has launched in numerous colors over the last few years, from classic black to baby pink to bright orange. Oprah’s grape-purple pick is currently only available at Amazon — that is, until it inevitably sells out. When Telfar dropped on Amazon in 2020, the bags sold out at lightning speed, and we have a feeling this time won’t be any different.
