  • Gayle King shot down rumors that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's current Los Angeles residence was obtained through their famous friend Oprah Winfrey.

  • Rumors have been circulating that the Sussexes are staying in a lavish estate owned by a close friend of Winfrey, director Tyler Perry.

  • "Oprah didn't hook that up," King told Entertainment Tonight.

As Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan continue settling into their new lives in Los Angeles, their close friend Gayle King is insisting that their secluded compound was not obtained through the help of Oprah Winfrey.

Addressing speculation that the Sussexes are currently residing in an $18 million mansion in California owned by director, and one of Winfrey's closest confidantes, Tyler Perry, King shot down rumors that the royal couple's new digs were arranged through a friendly favor from Winfrey.

"Oprah didn't hook that up," King bluntly told Entertainment Tonight. "Harry and Meghan know people. Tyler knows people. Oprah knows people but she did not make that connection for Harry and Meghan to live in Tyler's house."

Both King and Winfrey remain close with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and have spoken out in support of their decision to leave royal life behind in order to pursue a more independent life for themselves and their young son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. King attended Meghan's baby shower in New York City last year, and Oprah famously attended the Sussexes' wedding in May of 2018.

"They've got a little baby, Archie, they're living in the United States, and I think the fairy tale continues for them and it just makes me happy," added King.
