Opening of Seaman Building in downtown MW approaches, Outfitters

May 7—MINERAL WELLS — The return of the historic Seaman Building as a commercial hive in downtown Mineral Wells is fast approaching, the real estate agent helping with its restoration said recently.

"Our goal, depending on electric and when that gets finalized, will be May 13," realtor and downtown advocate Cody Jordan said, after consulting with fire protection professional Spencer Scott. "We're getting close."

Jordan said early tenants signing on to set up shop, in the 20,000-square-foot shell at 200 W. Hubbard Ave., include City Meats & Market and Outfitter at 70767.

City Meats is a family owned combination butcher and sandwich shop with an emphasis on locally produced meats, "protein and specialty groceries," according to its website.

Jordan described Outfitter as a "small-town Cabela's," a Fort Worth-based outlet for outdoor lifestyle sports gear and clothing.

"The thing about that is to showcase all of the landscape of Palo Pinto County, to encourage people to go hunting, fishing, canoeing, biking, camping," she said. "Just capitalizing on the Wellness Capital of Texas designation."

Another expected tenant, Midland Athletics, will add a nutrition therapist to guide customers to health. Midland also plans to stage two health-focused events each year.
