The Open Door Network collecting toiletries for families, individuals at the shelter

(KGET) — The Open Door Network is collecting items to help provide some basic needs at its center.

On Thursday, April 18, The Open Door Network is hosting a drive to collect personal hygiene products. These are everyday toiletries the shelter needs and provides for individuals and families at the shelter.

The Open Door Network says when people arrive at the shelter, they often do with nothing but the clothes on their backs. These items can help those on their path to a better life.

You can donate the following items:

  • Blankets

  • Shampoo

  • Deodorant

  • Toilet paper

  • Makeup

  • Toothbrushes

  • Toothpaste

  • Feminine products

  • Hair products

  • Body spray

  • Body wash

  • Perfume

  • Soap

You can drop off these items Thursday, April 18 from 10:30 a.m. through 6:30 p.m. at the corner of 22nd and L streets just outside the KGET studios in downtown Bakersfield.
