Many of us as e-bikers know that taking a stand against the number of vehicle trips we do by substituting them with e-bikes is a small way to help reduce our own personal carbon footprint while also trying to spread the message that bicycles, in general, are a more efficient and environmentally friendly way to travel.

However, there are many other ways to help spread the word about the environmental issues that plague our world. Upway, an online e-bike retailer, and two NYC-based artists are using their own platforms to help spread the message about Earth Month through their unique channel: art.

Art as a Medium of Expression

Upway decided to do something unique to celebrate Earth Month, so it collaborated with NYC-based artists Jason Naylor and Katie Merz to combine custom art and electric bikes to help raise money (and awareness) for Re: Wild, a charity founded in part by Leonardo DiCaprio to protect and conserve nature around the world.

Both Naylor and Mertz were invited into the Upway warehouse to paint 6 different electric bikes from 6 different companies, offering each artist a chance to impress upon the bikes their own unique vision. Once finished, the 6 electric bikes have been up for sale on the Upway website, with 10% of the profits headed towards Re:wild.

Check out the bikes here if you are looking for some incredible deals on custom-painted electric bikes while also wanting to help a noble cause.
