Despite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle making the controversial decision to step down from their royal duties and leave the UK, it seems their kids are still affected by the royal life. While Prince Archie was a baby when they left, and Princess Lilibet wasn’t even born in the UK, one of them has to abide by this rather disruptive royal rule later in life.

After his grandfather King Charles III ascended the throne, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son Archie became sixth in line for the throne. And because of this, a royal rule was allegedly added to his future.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Newsweek via MSN that because of the Succession to the Crown Act, “the first six in line to the throne [must] ask permission from the monarch before they marry.”

So, basically, because Archie is sixth in line, he has to ask the monarchy permission to wed, despite him and his parents not even being active royal members. Fitwilliams added though that nothing extremely harsh would come to Archie, though, if he didn’t abide by the rule.

If he doesn’t follow the rule, then he would be “disqualified from succeeding to the Crown,” and since he, his sister, and his parents aren’t official royals anymore anyway, we think they’ll be fine.

As many loyal royal fans know, Harry and Meghan started dating in 2016, and were later married in 2018. They share two children together named Archie, born in May 2019, and Lilibet Diana, born in June 2021.
