One of London's most storied buildings is preparing for a new generation of prominence, thanks to Raffles Hotels & Resorts. After being closed to the public for more than a century, the Old War Office in the heart of Whitehall is being transformed into Raffles London at the OWO, the hospitality brand's first London institution and sure to be one of 2022's most anticipated luxury hotel openings. The property will also house 85 exquisite residences, with penthouses ranging from studios to five-bedroom homes. Sales are managed through Knight Frank and Strutt & Parker.

Originally built as the Palace of Whitehall where monarchs such as King Henry VIII dwelled from the early 16th century until the end of the 17th century, the palatial structure then became the Old War Office, where world-shaping political and military decisions were made. It was home to a prominent WWII headquarters, where Winston Churchill's legacy lives on, and also served as the inspiration behind Ian Fleming's James Bond series. The office even served as a filming location for five James Bond movies and, more recently, in Netflix's The Crown.

The Grade II listed building originally built by William Young is currently being restored and its interiors transformed by EPR Architects, Thierry Despont, and 1508 London over the last five years. The designs will reflect the structure's original Edwardian architecture and its history as a preeminent mark of British empirical power while offering chic, modern luxuries and a centuries-long dedication to craftsmanship in the 125 rooms and suites, along with the 85 residences.

Guests and owners will have all the luxe amenities and hospitality of staying at a Raffles-owned destination, which will house nine restaurants and bars, along with an immersive spa and winter garden for afternoon tea and events. Residents will have 30,000 square feet of exclusive amenities, including a cinema, fitness studios, private lounges and dining rooms, a games room, among other owners-only perks.

The future OWO Residences sits at an enviable address facing the House Guards and is adjacent to the lush St. James Park, which is home to the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Walk. Guests and residents of the property will also be a short walk away from Buckingham Palace, the National Gallery, and the Tate, as well as some of the city's best shopping on Regents, Bond, and Jermyn streets.
