Iron Blooded Orphans Urdr Hunt movie teaser

The Mobile Suit Gundam series has been running for a very long time – as far back as 1979 – and while many see it largely as an opportunity to sell toys and model kits, the anime series that inspire those toys are well-loved the world over. One of those series in particular, 2015’s Iron Blooded Orphans, was very well received by fans, and it’s about to make a comeback.

The official Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans Twitter account made two big announcements earlier this week. The first was that the spinoff game, Iron Blooded Orphans Urdr Hunt, would be shutting down on January 11, 2024. That’s a little bit of a bummer for fans in Japan who play the game, but it unfortunately never made it outside Japan.

The second was that Urdr Hunt would be continuing on, in some way, in the form of an anime film. The Twitter account released a teaser trailer for the anime movie, showing Urdr Hunt main character Wistario Afam in his pilot suit atop a huge spaceship. We see a few cuts to different characters, a few scenic shots, and Wistario tearing things up in his mech.

It’s all very pretty, even if I don’t understand half of what’s going on. Either way, it looks like it’s packed with all the stuff people loved about Iron Blooded Orphans, and the mech designs are incredible, so it should be a blast.

No release date has been revealed for the movie, and at the time of writing it has not been confirmed for an English release — but we’d imagine it’s just a matter of when, not if. Gundam media has been becoming more and more prominent in the West, and while it hasn’t quite hit the same highs as it has in Japan, it certainly seems to be picking up steam.
