In One Ear: Milkshakes for life

“Each year, ... teacher Wendy Montgomery asks her students to write an ‘outrageous request‘ persuasive letter,” Bill Fritz, the superintendent of Knappa School District, wrote. “Students get to choose the recipient and what they wish to request. She encourages them to ‘think big.’”

Aiden Cleary thought of The Logger in Knappa “right away,” and wrote requesting “free milkshakes for life,” explaining that “you guys make the best milkshakes, especially the chocolate peanut butter milkshakes.”

On April 16, he got his reply from Gretchen Teevin: “ ... Your kind words warmed our hearts. We want to make your dreams come true by making you Logger milkshakes for life!” Fritz estimates that “based on average life expectancy, Aiden is eligible for approximately 21,915 milkshakes.”

Aiden’s mother, Nicole Cleary, is delighted with her son’s persuasive accomplishment, and his grandfather, Patrick Cleary, was “happy to crow a little about my grandson” on Facebook. Even Fox News 12 took notice and did a story about Aiden’s milkshake request.

“Thank you to Ms. Montgomery for posing this challenge,” Fritz said, “to our students for writing well, and to The Logger for making Aiden’s dream come true.” (Photo: Cleary family)
