One Chicago Fans, You're Not Going to Like This 'P.D.,' 'Med' and 'Fire' Episode News

One Chicago fans, Wednesday nights might look a little different for the next few weeks.

In late September, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med and Chicago Fire premiered their latest installments — season 12, season 10 and season 7, respectively. Since then, the Windy City-based procedural shows have had two breaks over the holiday season. But even with Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's behind us, the One Chicago franchise isn't quite back on its regular schedule.

On January 25, the One Chicago's official Twitter announced that viewers will have to be patient and wait for NBC to air new episodes. "We're off for a bit, but all your favorite episodes are streaming now," the tweet read. In other words, there will be no new episodes of Chicago P.D., Chicago Med and Chicago Fire this Wednesday — and for the near future.

When will Chicago P.D., Chicago Med and Chicago Fire return?

At the moment, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med and Chicago Fire have not announced an official date for their returns on NBC. But according to IMDB, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med and Chicago Fire are scheduled to come back on Wednesday, February 23 at 8 p.m. ET, 9 p.m. ET and 10 p.m. ET, respectively. That said, this information has not been confirmed by the network.

But why are there no new episodes of One Chicago anyway? In short, the 2022 Winter Olympics. The Winter Games in Beijing are kicking off on February 4 and starting next week, NBC will fill the Wednesday timeslots with primetime coverage of Team U.S.A. Although there are no details about why Chicago P.D., Chicago Med and Chicago Fire decided to start their latest hiatus one week early, it might be because the franchise has recently experienced production delays due to positive coronavirus cases on set.

Deadline reported in early January that Chicago Fire had paused filming when tests came up positive for the cast and/or crew in the wave of the recent surge of the Omicron variant. The following week, the outlet said that Chicago P.D. had also stopped rolling their cameras after a similar incident happened to their team. Although it's not clear whether these schedule disruptions greatly affected the shows, we do know that it will be at least three weeks before we see our favorite fictional emergency responders again.
