Friends and fellow agents: It's almost time. After countless delays, it looks like we'll finally witness Daniel Craig's last outing as James Bond, 007, that guy who likes martinis a certain way—whatever you want to call him—in No Time to Die. October 8th, people.

Given all that we've been through waiting for No Time to Die to drop, it's slightly surprising that there's another bit of Bond-related news threatening to overshadow its release. Of course, we're talking about the search for the next 007. Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Regé-Jean Page. We've been through this a thousand times. So, it might come as a relief that we finally have an update that tells us when, exactly, we can expect to hear an update regarding the future of the franchise. Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today, Bond producer Barbara Broccoli said the official search won't even begin until 2022.

“We want Daniel [Craig] to have his time of celebration,” Broccoli said. “Next year we’ll start thinking about the future.”

Broccoli has a point. If the team behind Bond made like Marvel and frenetically auditioned good-looking people for the part around the release of No Time to Die, it might overshadow Craig's tenure just a little bit. Continuing to speak to 007's future, Broccoli added in a separate interview that we'll continue to see Bond films in theaters going forward, even with Amazon's purchase of MGM.

“We focussed on making the films for theatrical release and… I think that’s our position," she said. "[Amazon] certainly have told us that the films will be theatrical films in the future. And we’ll see what happens.”
