When Madame Clicquot took over her late husband’s textile and wine company after his death in 1805, she decided to focus on the wine part. Five years later, she developed and released the first known vintage Champagne in Reims, France, and within a decade, she was known as “La Grande Dame of Champagne.” One of her favorite phrases — and her all-around vibe — was “only one quality, the finest.”

Fast-forward 250 years, and Veuve Clicquot is still known for its high-end Champagnes and they’re again partnering with another grand company for three trips in 2024, all of which fall under the “Trip of a Lifetime” category. (Oh, and in case it comes up at this week’s pub quiz, “Veuve” means “widow.” Madame Clicquot knew what she was doing.)

Two years ago, Veuve Clicquot and Belmond Trains — which is part of the luxury LVMH Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy conglomerate — put together an ultra-swanky trip from Reims to Venice on Belmond’s Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.

Next year, the two companies are offering three trips on three different continents, and they’re sure to be five stars all the way around. The first trip to depart is a three-night journey on the Eastern & Oriental Express from Singapore to Penang and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The highlights of that trip include watching the sunrise in the Teman Negara National Park, a Champagne toast in the Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve, and a gala dinner onboard the train on the final night before arriving in Kuala Lumpur. That adventure is scheduled between April 22-25, 2024.

The second of the Veuve Clicquot Solaire Journeys, as they’re called, will leave Vienna, Austria, on July 4, 2024, and arrive in Reims on July 6. Travelers will spend their first night at the Hotel Imperial in Vienna before boarding the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express for a black tie dinner curated by French chef and Veuve Clicquot ambassador, Jean Imbert. On the third day, after seeing the sunrise as the train travels through the Alps, they’ll disembark in Reims for a tour of Veuve Clicquot’s private manor, vineyards, gardens, and cellars.

Finally, between October 21-26, 2024, Veuve Clicquot will be offering its first-ever trip from Cusco, Peru to Arequipa, Peru. The travelers will spend three nights at Belmond’s five-star Palacio Nazarenas in Cusco, in an “oxygen-enriched suite.” (Cusco’s elevation is over 11,000 feet above sea level – twice as high as Denver.) In addition to exploring Cusco, Day Three also includes a day trip to that extraordinary Incan citadel, Machu Picchu. On Day Four, everyone will board the 35-cabin Andean Explorer to travel to Lake Titicaca, en route to the final destination of Arequipa.

As you might’ve guessed, these trips aren’t for the budget traveler. Prices start at £6,800 ($8,500) per passenger, based on double occupancy. That whole “only one quality” thing doesn’t come cheap.
