If you're living in 2019 and "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X isn't on your playlist, then I'm assuming you live under a rock. "Old Town Road" is only the biggest bop of the year. Honestly, even pre-school kids can't get enough of it. There's been so many remixes that I thought there was no way the song could get any better. Then a member of the biggest boy band in the world went ahead and hopped on yet another remix. Yes, I'm talking about BTS. RM from K-pop group BTS hopped on a remix of the song and cleverly renamed it "Seoul Town Road" as a callback the capital of his birth country, South Korea. I can already feel it. This song is going to top the music charts, so now's the time to give it a listen. Here's a breakdown of the song's lyrics.

RM

Yeah, I'm gonna take my horse to the Seoul town road/
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more/
I'm gonna take my horse to the Seoul town road/
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more/
Kio, Kio/

RM opens up the song the way Lil Nas X does in the traditional, except in this version he changes "Old Town Road" into "Old Seoul Road." All the members of BTS, including RM hail from South Korea and Seoul is the country's capital city. Seoul is also what RM currently calls home. Kio Kio is the tag for the song's producer, YoungKio.

Lil Nas X

I got the horses in the back/
Horse tack is attached/
Hat is matte black/
Got the boots that's black to match/
Ridin' on a horse, ha/
You can whip your Porsche/
I been in the valley
You ain't been up off that porch, now/

These lyrics are Lil Nas X's original verse on the actual song. The lyrics are full of cowboy imagery and it seems like Lil Nas X is simply describing what he's wearing while he rides a horse. But even though the song is catch af, Lil Nas X told Genius that the lyrics have a way deeper meaning. What he's actually singing about is his path to success. Lil Nas X is riding on a "horse" and not a "Porsche" because he doesn't need anything fancy or extra tools to achieve his goals because he knows he's naturally talented.

Lil Nas X

Can't nobody tell me nothin'/
You can't tell me nothin'/
Can't nobody tell me nothin'/
You can't tell me nothin'/

When Lil Nas X says "Can't nobody tell me nothin', he means he isn't going to let comments from hater distract him from his goals. He knows what he's got going and nothing's going to take him off the path to success.

RM

I got the homis in my bag (Yeah)/
Have you heard of that? (Yeah)/
Homis made of steel, from Korea, they the best/
Ridin' to the farm (Huh)/
Grabbin' all the corn (Huh)/
We gon' get yo' money with my homi in your backyard/

This is where RM gets creative and flexes his skills for wordplay. RM sings about "homis," which sounds like he's saying "homies" and referring to his friends, but a homi is actually a popular farming tool in South Korea. Farmers use it to dig, weed and mound soil. He sings "Have you heard of that" because someone who doesn't farm" or isn't from South Korea probably wouldn't know what a homi is.

In his verse, RM uses the image of someone working at the farm to make money as a reference to his own work ethic. He sings "We gon' get yo' money with my homi in your backyard"as a reference to BTS's actual career. Not only are they famous in their home of South Korea, but their also famous in our "backyard," our own hometowns.

Lil Nas X with RM

Can't nobody tell me nothin'
You can't tell me nothin'
Can't nobody tell me nothin'
You can't tell me nothin'

The haters can't phase Lil Nas X or RM. They're going to keep doing what they love.

RM

Yeah, I'm gonna take my horse to the Seoul town road
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more
I'm gonna take my horse to the Seoul town road
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more

RM is going to keep traveling on his road full of opportunities and on his way to success he's going to put Seoul on the map and he already has. BTS has brought global fame to the K-pop genre.
